1. Who this policy applies to
This policy describes how the ElementShot browser extension (“Extension,” “we,” “our”) handles information when you install and use it from the Chrome Web Store or other official distribution channels.
2. Information we collect
We do not collect personal information. The Extension does not:
- Send your web page content, screenshots, or DOM data to our servers
- Use analytics, advertising, or tracking SDKs
- Create user accounts or profiles
- Sell or share data with third parties for marketing
There is no backend service operated by us for ElementShot. All capture happens locally in Chrome.
3. Data stored on your device
The Extension may store the following locally using Chrome extension APIs:
- Captured images for the current session (shown in the on-page preview)
- Session preferences (e.g. last selected iframe/frame for capture on a tab)
This data remains on your computer until you delete it (via the Extension UI, browser storage controls, or uninstalling the Extension). Uninstalling removes extension-controlled storage.
4. Permissions and why we need them
Chrome requires declared permissions. ElementShot uses them only to provide capture features:
| Permission | Purpose |
|---|---|
activeTab |
Access the current tab when you open the popup or activate capture, after user action. |
scripting |
Inject capture tools (picker, studio UI) into the page or iframe you choose. |
tabs / tab capture |
Take pixel-accurate viewport screenshots for element crops and coordinate capture with the active tab. |
storage |
Remember the selected capture frame for the current tab session. |
downloads |
Save PNG or ZIP files to your device when you click download. |
webNavigation |
List frames (including iframes) on the active tab so you can pick where to capture. |
host_permissions (https://*/*, http://*/*) |
Run capture on websites you visit after you activate the Extension on that site. We do not read sites in the background without your action. |
5. Host access and Shopify admin
On admin.shopify.com, a lightweight helper script may run to detect embedded app iframes. Capture
still runs only in frames you select and activate. Optional permission prompts may appear when a site requires
explicit host access.
6. Third-party services
Extension pages (popup and capture panel) may load Google Fonts (Plus Jakarta Sans) from
fonts.googleapis.com and fonts.gstatic.com for UI typography. Google’s policies
apply to that request; your page content and captures are not sent to Google as part of font
loading.
The Extension bundles open-source libraries (e.g. html2canvas, fflate) executed locally. They do not phone home.
7. Children
ElementShot is a general productivity tool not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone.
8. Your choices
- Do not activate capture on sites you do not want the Extension to access.
- Close the capture panel or uninstall the Extension to clear session captures.
- Uninstall the Extension to remove local extension storage.
9. International users (GDPR / CCPA)
Because we do not collect or process personal data on our servers, there is no data subject access, deletion, or portability request to submit to us for server-held data. Local data is under your control via Chrome and the Extension.
10. Changes to this policy
We may update this page when the Extension changes. The “Last updated” date at the top will change accordingly. Continued use after updates means you accept the revised policy.
11. Contact
For privacy questions, contact the developer using the support link on the ElementShot Chrome Web Store listing, or use the ElementShot homepage.
